The meet-up
I’m sick in bed. This so. califas desert weather is the dumbest ever. Mad cold in the morning and then 99 during the day. Anyway, still needing employment, I watched the Chang/Lake diavlog as soon as it went up. If you follow folks like Mr. Chang, few things will be particularly new but I’m sure it will be a different pov for usual bloggingheads viewers. A good look for sure.
Thoughts:
- I’m surprised Lake thought that the rapper/republican thesis was new/controversial in any way. Once something is a daily show segment…
- O-dub getting mad love!
- Always bummed when education policy is glossed over. Teachable moments people! (or is that just the M.Ed. talking? Speaking of which, the UH website finally shows that I graduated. yee.) Diavlog totally focused on education please.
- Soundbombing…part 2…or volume 2? (and I just had bboy document 99 on the mind)
- Re: re-up gang and the crack creation fetishization. Whatabout juve? Get ya hustle on. Aren’t we kinda passed the “crack rap” discussion anyway? (for the purposes of bloggingheads probably not)
- Real talk with community organizing though. Connecting the dots with Saul Alinsky, republicans of color, and more far right activists was dope. Few things got my blood boiling more than the sneering RNC treatment of the “community organizer.”
Curious to see what the infamous bhtv commenters think of it all. It goes without saying that I’m such a fanboy of Jeff Chang and O-Dub and Kris Ex and Caramanica and Rose and this group of writers. It’s corny but they are one of the major groups of celebrities in my world (a world of idolizing DJs, Writers, Artists, Rappers, Clothing designers and Skaters…note: growing up with a parent working in hollywood, actors aint sh-t).

Good Memories
Playing zdarlight at Soul Clap was one of those hilarious highlights of Hawai’i over the two years I was there. Man. That one party with all those model-types getting super buck and making out with my hand on the turntable. FIRE. “Do you have bodyrox?” “why yes, yes i do.” shout out to eskae cringing with the big room madness i would sully his party with. yayerrrr.
